WET's Review and Rating System

… and the boring story behind it. ðŸ¤¦‍♂️

What's up guys! It's been a while since I've posted something in this blog and that's because I've been (lazy...) busy with a lot of things lately. As you can see I have only posted two blog posts since then and that's the Top 10 Most Anticipated 'New' TV Anime of Spring 2020 and the Demon Slayer season 1 review. 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

To tell you the truth the revival of this blog wasn't really planned well and that's why I've encountered a lot of problems in doing it. The fact that I don't really do reviews and that I only based those two on my personal opinions were one of those problems. It kinda bothers me and I'm not confident enough considering that I’m just a ‘casual viewer’ (I don’t know what to call it), I myself knew that I'm not an expert with classifying things in general. What a drag. 😑 I did did my research and tried to read some reviews but that didn't help too. There are a lot of great reviewers out there and they had some well written pieces that made me feel insecure about my first two works. But... I still wanna continue with this so in this post I just wanna explain what I learned in my research, how I came up with the rating system and why it is necessary.

Writing the top ten and the Demon Slayer review I realized that I have to also rate the animes that I'm reviewing so that I can tell you how much I liked watching them in a broader way. I saw that some reviewers also do that too. In order to rate them I used the four most important factors that makes an anime, or anything I watch in general, appealing to me and that is the PLOT, CHARACTERS, ANIMATION and lastly the MUSIC.

Here’s how the rating system goes:

PLOT (40%): I gave the plot the highest percentage because, come on, that’s the most important thing. It's the story. I frequently look at it and especially at upcoming animes, I always read its synopsis first. It should be interesting enough for me to consider watching it.

CHARACTERS (30%): The characters add to the dynamics of the whole series. I definitely wouldn't watch it if there is no interesting characters in it? Fans, like me, ought for relatable characters as well. Yes main characters, protagonist(s)/antagonist(s), would be the focal point of this category but that doesn't mean supporting characters doesn't matter at all.

ANIMATION (20%): Who wouldn’t want a show with good visuals? This factor also shows us how big the effort and the budget the production team or the studio put in it. A well animated piece is always a treat for casual viewers like me.

MUSIC (10%): Every anime starts and ends with it. It also sets the mood, especially to the crucial moments. Anime themes also makes an anime more unforgettable especially when it's catchy.

*Keep in mind that no matter how good or bad those factors were to whatever you’re watching it doesn't really matter as long as you enjoy watching it. I just wanna remind you that all of this is just my personal take on things and that if it's good to me but it's not for you or vice versa it doesn't mean that someone's wrong. It's fine because we all have different opinions.
